Oasis joins other NGOs to rescue 300 children in Bangalore

In September (2011) the Bangalore police asked Oasis India and 6 other NGOs to work together on a coordinated raid to free children who have been trafficked and forced into begging in the city.

Each NGO took responsibility for a certain part of the city, and research was undertaken in September and November. In it's area, Oasis identified and compiled information on 45 children which was handed on to the police and a raid was planned. On the appointed day, December 2nd, the Oasis staff team were accompanied by police and other government officials and although it was not possible to raid every area that was researched, nevertheless, 30 of the children who had been identified were found and freed.

Overall, the seven NGOs and the police were able to rescue 300 children - a huge success. All the children were provided with after care and regular follow up is being maintained by each agency.
